The European Commission has formally announced the 27 winners of its 18th EU translation contest for secondary schools, titled ‘Juvenes Translatores.’
A total of 3,070 enthusiastic participants engaged in translating a text between any two of the EU’s 24 official languages. While the English language was predominantly utilized, the 144 language combinations selected by students from 713 schools across the 27 Member States encompassed various pairings, including Polish-Portuguese, Slovenian-Danish, and Romanian-Finnish, among others.
The translators from the European Commission identified one winner from each EU country. Additionally, 341 students received special commendations for their commendable efforts. Piotr Serafin, the Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud, and Public Administration, extended his congratulations to the winners and expressed gratitude to all participants and their educators for their enthusiasm. He also emphasized the significance of language learning in today’s interconnected world.
