A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man and woman were attacked near a pub in Devon. Emergency services were called to Newton Abbot in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, February 23), where a man and woman were assaulted by another man near The White Hart pub in East Street.
Devon and Cornwall Police were called at around 12.50am. The woman, aged in her 40s, and man, in his 50s, both suffered injuries and were taken to Torbay Hospital. Neither of their injuries are described as life-changing or life-threatening.
A male suspect left the scene after the attack, police said. Enquiries led officers to an address nearby where a man in his 50s was arrested in suspicion of two counts of attempted murder. He remains in custody.
