St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today that the team has made the decision to recall forward Dalibor Dvorsky from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. This strategic move comes as the Blues navigate their current season and seek to bolster their roster with promising young talent.
In another notable update, the Blues have listed forward Pavel Buchnevich as day-to-day due to an illness, raising questions about his availability for upcoming games.
Dalibor Dvorsky, a talented 19-year-old player, was selected by the Blues in the first round of the 2023 NHL Draft, being the tenth overall pick. This marks a significant milestone in his young career as he begins his first professional season in North America. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 206 pounds, Dvorsky has made a substantial impact in the AHL, appearing in 57 games for the Thunderbirds. He ranks third among all AHL rookies with 20 goals and is fifth overall with 43 points, showcasing his offensive prowess. His performance earned him a spot in the prestigious 2025 AHL All-Star Game, where he represented Springfield in February, further solidifying his status as a rising star in the league.
Internationally, Dvorsky has displayed exceptional leadership skills, having served as captain for the Slovakia U-20 team during the 2025 World Junior Championships. His impact on the ice was evident as he led the team with an impressive nine points, accumulating five goals and four assists over five tournament games. Before his tenure with the Thunderbirds, Dvorsky spent the majority of the 2023-24 season playing for the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he delivered a remarkable season, finishing with 88 points—comprising 45 goals and 43 assists—in just 52 regular-season contests. His outstanding performance earned him recognition as a member of the 2024 OHL First All-Star Team.
On the other hand, Pavel Buchnevich, now 29 years old, is currently in his fourth season with the St. Louis Blues after joining the team via trade from the New York Rangers on July 23, 2021. The native of Cherepovets, Russia, has been a consistent performer for the Blues, contributing a total of 47 points—14 goals and 33 assists—across 68 games this season. His experience and skill have made him a valuable asset to the team as they aim for success in this competitive season.
