Twat Union is an all-female British band that has gained a grassroots following in London, drawing inspiration from the riot grrrl movement exemplified by bands like Bikini Kill. Known for their energetic live performances, their music addresses both the challenges and triumphs of life as women.
The band formed in a house-share in South London towards the end of the COVID-19 lockdown, with members hailing from the Isle of Wight, Wales, and London. The need for a shared living space that could also serve as a rehearsal area led to the emergence of a natural jam environment where they began to develop their unique sound.
Recently signed to indie punk label Alcopop! Records, Twat Union is set to release their debut EP titled *Don’t Look It in the Eye*. Vocalist Kate Mac describes the EP as the product of two years of theatrical live performances, expressing excitement for listeners to engage with their themes of humor and frustration related to sexism, sexuality, and personal experiences. The record features five tracks that candidly explore topics such as sexism, masturbation, and the complexities of post-sex feelings, aiming to bring their anthemic confrontational style to audiences across the country.
